Towards Zero Garbage and Recycling

What you can and can't put in your bins.

240L Recycling Bin         

These bins are designed to hold household Recyclables -   Please DO NOT place the following in your 240L recycle bin:

X             Plastic Bags

X             Polystyrene cups or Meat trays

X             Waxed Cardboard or Paper with Food Remains

X             Nappies

X             Motor Oil or Motor Oil Containers

X             Hazardous Chemical Containers

X             Syringes

X             Clothing

X             Green Waste

X             Broken Glass or Crockery

X             Plastic (unless coded 1,2,3,4 or 5)

X             Light Bulbs

X             Timber

If the above items are found to be in the bin, it will not be collected and an infringement notice will be issued.  You can place the following in you 240L recycling bin: 

√              Glass Bottles or Jars

√              Steelo Cans & Aerosol Cans

√              Aluminium Cans

√              Plastic bottles

√              Milk & Juice Cartons

√              Paper & Cardboard

  

120L – Garbage Bin

These bins are designed to hold household waste that is not recyclable.  Please DO NOT place the following in your 120L garbage bin:

X            Green Waste   (grass clippings, pruning etc)

X            Paint or Chemical Containers  (Including Hazardous Waste)

X            Timber or Building Materials

X            Hot Ash

X            Recyclable Items

X            Clothing

 

The above items need to be taken to your local Landfill or Transfer Station.  If the above items are found to be in the bin, your bin will not be collected and an infringement notice will be issued.

 

General Information

Both bins are marked with a serial number which is recorded against your property, these bins remain the property of Wellington Shire Council.  DO NOT take the bins with you if you relocate.

 

Please call 1300 130 129 if any of the following occurs:

-         You don’t have a bin

-         Your bin is damaged

-         All other general enquiries

-         Your bin is not emptied

-         Your bin is stolen (Police Report / Statutory Declaration required)
